These policies help Hickory Grove Schoolhouse run smoothly and safely for every child and family. Please read them before your first day and reach out with any questions.

Drop-Off & Pickup

Drop-off is between 8:45 and 9:00 AM. Pickup is between 3:00 and 3:15 PM. Please do not arrive before 8:45 AM.

Promptness at pickup is important. Cristina's children have after-school activities, and late pickup creates a disruption. If you anticipate being late, please contact Cristina as early as possible.

Each child should arrive with a backpack or bag, a labeled water bottle, and a healthy packed lunch. See the Food & Nutrition policy for lunch guidelines.

Illness & Health

Please keep your child home if they have any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever within the past 48 hours
  • Thick, green nasal mucus
  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 48 hours
  • Body aches or chills
  • Persistent wet cough

If a child becomes ill during the day, a parent or guardian will be contacted to arrange prompt pickup.

Please contact Cristina via text or email any time your child will be absent.

Weather

Hickory Grove Schoolhouse meets in all weather conditions. Outdoor time is part of every school day. Please dress your child accordingly.

Rain boots or hiking sandals are strongly recommended, as the property has multiple wet areas. Extra layers and rain gear are always appropriate. On rainy days, please send a full change of clothes.

When temperatures fall into the teens or below, outdoor time will be reduced.

In the event of severe weather such as a thunderstorm or weather advisory, outdoor activities will move indoors.

Attendance & Absences

Regular attendance is expected. If your child will be absent, please contact Cristina in advance so she can plan materials and activities accordingly. Last-minute notification is acceptable when necessary, but advance notice is preferred whenever possible.

Food & Nutrition

Please pack a healthy lunch for your child. We ask that you not send treats, candy, food dyes, or junk food. This applies to snacks as well. We are passionate about being good stewards of the land and our bodies, and the foods we bring to co-op should reflect that.

Occasionally, children may bake goods or prepare other food as part of a school activity. Any baked goods and other food prepared during class will generally follow the same nutritional standards.

All children should arrive with a labeled water bottle.

Devices & Screens

Hickory Grove Schoolhouse is a tech-free environment for children. Do not send your child with a phone, tablet, smartwatch, or any other personal device. Devices brought to co-op will be held until pickup.

Photos & Privacy

All enrolling families are required to complete a Photo Release Waiver, available on the Forms page. Photos and videos taken during co-op days may be used on the Hickory Grove Schoolhouse website only.

Hickory Grove Schoolhouse does not maintain any social media accounts. Photos of your children will not be shared on social media.

Communication

The primary contact for all questions, absences, and communications is Cristina Ondrey. She can be reached by text or email:

Phone: 440.823.3565
Email: hickorygroveschoolhouse@gmail.com

Prior to the start of the school year, Cristina will create a family directory for enrolled families who wish to share their contact information with one another.

Tuition

Tuition is due in full prior to the start of the school year. If paying in full presents a hardship, please contact Cristina directly to discuss options.

  • 1st child: $2,000 for the full year
  • 2nd child: $1,800 for the full year
  • 3rd child: $1,600 for the full year

Payment details (check and Venmo) will be provided upon enrollment confirmation.

By enrolling, families are committing to full tuition for the year. A prorated refund is available within the first two weeks of the program. After that point, no refunds will be issued.

Statement of Faith

Hickory Grove Schoolhouse is rooted in Christian values. All enrolling families are required to read and sign our Statement of Faith prior to enrollment. Download it from the Forms page.
