Pop-up classes are single Wednesdays. Seasonal sessions are four in a row under one theme, with a different topic each week. Every class has its own hands-on project and usually something to take home.

Why does the light change in October? We start with the earth itself: its tilt, its path around the sun, and what all of that has to do with equinoxes, solstices, and the timing of harvest. We read By the Light of the Harvest Moon together, then head to the kitchen to make autumn soup from produce picked at its peak.
A morning of watching and listening. Children learn to notice how birds behave, pick calls out of the noise, and identify the common species around the property using field guides we provide. Then two things they will not forget: dissecting an owl pellet to work out exactly what it ate, and mixing homemade suet cakes to take home for their own feeders.
Children make lip balm and hand cream from scratch, learning what actually goes into the things we put on our skin. Everything they make goes home with them, ready to give to someone they love. A morning of working with your hands and then giving the result away.
We head outside to gather what the season has left behind, then bring it in to build wreaths and scented wax melts. Another morning of handmade gifts, ready to give away over the holidays.
Brrrr. A morning of winter weather you can get your hands into. We make a snowstorm in a jar, work out why salt melts ice by using it to churn ice cream in a bag, and build snow globes to take home.

Four Wednesdays following autumn through the woods. We look at fungi and the work it does on a forest floor, trace food chains from one creature to the next, learn to tell coniferous trees from deciduous ones, and get into how leaves actually work and why they turn. Hands-on work runs through all four weeks: watercolor, food chains, leaf art, and biome mapping.
